Reports on the elections for the governorship of California. Storm of controversy over President Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon reviving Watergate as a national trauma and causing the Republican Party to go on the defensive. The press's reaction to Ford's pardoning of Nixon is also recorded as well as the Foreign Office's assessment of the situation. Senator Kennedy announces that based on family considerations he would not be a candidate under any circumstances for the Democratic nomination either in 1976 or in any foreseeable future.
