Description Chancellor of Exchequer to attend Committee of 20 Meeting in Washington, World Bank/IMF meeting and Commonwealth Finance Ministers meeting; Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary, James Callaghan to attend NATO Ministerial meeting in Ottawa and the opening of UN General Assembly. Record of conversation between the Minister of state for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and the deputy Secretary Kenneth Rush who discuss relations between the US and the UK, US/European relations, the UK's move into the EEC, the withdrawal of US forces from Europe (MBFR) and the draft NATO declaration. Record of a meeting between HM Ambassador Sir Peter Ramsbotham and Secretary of Defence Schlesinger on the reorganisation of Allied Air Forces in the Central Region, Tactical Nuclear Doctrine, MC 161, Standardisation/Logistics, DPC Meeting, Diego Garcia, Defence Review, France, Mansfield resolution. Visit to New York by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster where he met a number of financial people and journalists where he talked about economic and political affairs, but concern about the oil financing problem and the question whether the markets can expect to handle successfully the recycling of financial surpluses of oil producing countries. Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster to call on the US Treasury in which he discussed the international monetary situation and on energy questions. The discussion also touched on UK/Europe relations and US Interest rates.
