Title Purchase of US military equipment by UK (1974)
Description Complications concerning the State Department approval for certain changes in the Westland agreement with Sikorsky which enables Westlands to manufacture the S61 helicopter and its derivatives for sale to HMG and virtually worldwide except for North America and the Soviet Bloc. The State Department wish to put themselves in the position of having the right to veto any proposed export of a Westland made S61 helicopter by changing the original 1959 license agreement to the 1966 licensing agreement which have been amended to exclude areas of potential political sensitivity to the US Government.
