Description | Includes excepts from an address by Her Majesty's Ambassador for Great Britain, the Hon. Sir Peter Ramsbotham to the Pilgrims in New York in which he speaks on Anglo/American and transatlantic relations and US/Soviet Union relations, detente, the Atlantic Alliance, NATO, the Middle East war, Mutual and Balanced Force Reductions (MBFR). Ramsbotham also met with David Rockefeller of Chase Manhattan and Walter Wriston of First National City Bank in which they discussed the UK economy and measures to combat inflation, the Government's intentions on nationalising sectors of industry particularly North Sea Oil, general relief at the relatively limited defence cuts included in the budget and hope that the UK could avoid cuts in its contribution to NATO and discussion of the recycling of Arab oil funds. Ramsbotham's call on Secretary Shultz in which they discussed inflation and mandatory wage/price controls.
